The Nigerian film industry has been thrown into mourning following the death of Nollywood actress Temitope Osoba after a prolonged battle with cancer.

Osoba passed away on Tuesday evening, nearly two years after she underwent surgery for breast cancer, a condition she had openly discussed during her treatment.

News of her death was made public on Wednesday by fellow actor and close associate, Alesh Ola Sanni, who paid an emotional tribute to the late actress on Instagram.

Expressing his grief, Sanni recalled the memorable moments they shared together, describing Osoba as a dear sister whose loss had left him heartbroken.

“I couldn’t sleep since last night. It’s well. Rest in peace, my dearest sister, Temitope Osoba. We had amazing times and beautiful memories together. Till we meet again. I really don’t know what to say,” he wrote.

The actress’s death has since triggered an outpouring of condolences from colleagues, fans and other stakeholders in the Nigerian entertainment industry, with many taking to social media to celebrate her life and contributions to Nollywood.

Osoba was widely admired for her talent and resilience, especially during her public fight against breast cancer, which inspired support from fans and colleagues across the country.
