Former Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun, has been bereaved following the death of her husband, Anthony Adeniyi Adeosun.

Anthony, a businessman, died on Wednesday, August 5, in Lagos at the age of 62, according to a statement released by the Adeosun family on Thursday.

The announcement, signed by Rev. C. A. Adeosun on behalf of the family, described the late Anthony as a devoted Christian and accomplished businessman whose life was marked by integrity, generosity and unwavering faith.

The family said he dedicated his life to hard work, service to God and commitment to his family and community, noting that his character positively impacted everyone who came in contact with him.

“It is with profound sorrow, yet in total submission to the will of Almighty God, that the Adeosun family announces the passing of our beloved husband, father and brother, Mr Anthony Adeniyi (Niyi) Adeosun, who was called home to glory on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, in Lagos,” the statement read in part.

While expressing gratitude for the prayers, condolences and support received from friends and well wishers, the family said it was taking solace in God during the period of mourning.

It added that details of the funeral and Christian burial arrangements would be announced at a later date.

Anthony is survived by his wife, former Finance Minister Kemi Adeosun, his children and siblings, including Kuramo Capital founder, Adewale Adeosun.

The family prayed for the peaceful repose of his soul and appreciated everyone who had stood by them in their moment of grief.
