Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has appealed to United States President Donald Trump and the international community to pay close attention to the forthcoming Osun State governorship election.

Davido, whose uncle, Governor Ademola Adeleke, is seeking another term in office, expressed concern over the possibility of violence, intimidation and disruption of the electoral process ahead of Saturday’s poll.

In his appeal to Trump, the singer urged the US President and other international stakeholders to encourage Nigerian authorities to protect voters and ensure that their votes count.

Davido said the people of Osun State should be allowed to participate in the election without fear, stressing the importance of peace and transparency throughout the electoral process.

He said, “President Donald Trump, I am calling your attention to the situation in Osun State, Nigeria, as we approach the election.”

The singer added that he was concerned about rising tension surrounding the poll and the possibility that violence or intimidation could undermine the democratic process.

“We do not want bloodshed. We do not want intimidation. We want peace, transparency, and a free and fair election,” he said.

Davido had previously threatened to personally seek Trump’s attention if he believed the conduct of the election was compromised.

The singer said he would use social media to draw the US President’s attention to any developments he considered troubling and, if necessary, travel to the United States to make his concerns known.

He also appealed to politicians and other stakeholders to respect the wishes of Osun voters and allow them to freely determine who governs the state.

The Osun governorship election is scheduled for August 15, 2026, with Governor Adeleke among the leading contenders seeking to retain the seat.
