A Kano Magistrate’s Court has ordered the remand of a man, Nazifi Kabir Liringo, over the alleged killing of his friend, Zaharaddin Adamu, during grass-cutting activities in Abuja.
Liringo, who resides in Dambatta Local Government Area of Kano State, was arraigned before Magistrate Court 27, Nomans Land, presided over by Magistrate Hauwa Abba Musa.
He was charged with culpable homicide under Section 222 of the Penal Code.
Prosecutor Maryam Halilu Dantiye told the court that the charge was a fresh one and requested that it be read to the defendant.
The court clerk, Muhammad Musa Tudun Wada, subsequently read the charge to Liringo.
However, the case could not proceed because the magistrate’s court lacked the jurisdiction to entertain the matter.
The court was told that Liringo allegedly struck Adamu with a cutlass while the two men were cutting grass in Abuja.
Police alleged that Adamu sustained injuries from the attack and later died.
Following the development, Magistrate Musa ordered that Liringo be remanded in a correctional centre pending further proceedings.
The court adjourned the matter until October 6, 2026, for further consideration.
