Operatives of the Special Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the Delta State Police Command have arrested seven suspected cultists and recovered a locally fabricated gun, live cartridge and suspected illicit drugs during a raid in Obiaruku, Delta State.
The suspects were arrested on September 13, 2026, following credible intelligence received by the SAKU operatives stationed in Ubulu-Uku.
The Police Public Relations Officer in Delta State, Bright Edafe, disclosed this in a statement issued in Warri, saying the operatives executed a search warrant at a premises along Ghana Quarters Street, Umuebu Road, Obiaruku.
According to the police, the search yielded one locally fabricated single-barrelled gun, a live cartridge, quantities of suspected illicit drugs, a battle axe, mobile phones and a laptop computer.
The seven suspects were identified as Wisdom Enede, 25; Ocheli Solomon, 42; Nnaji Godstime, 23; Izu Thankgod, 28; Kester Adishi, 31; Oghonogho Pentecost, 28; and Adishi Prince, 28.
Edafe said preliminary interrogation indicated that the suspects allegedly admitted belonging to the Vikings and Black Axe confraternities.
He added that the suspects also allegedly made statements concerning their involvement in internet fraud.
The police spokesperson, however, said investigations were still ongoing to determine the individual roles allegedly played by the suspects and establish the source of the recovered firearm.
He said the command was also investigating possible links between the suspects and other criminal activities in the area.l
