Operatives of the Edo State Police Command have arrested a 50-year-old self-acclaimed prophet, Nicholas Nusa, over the alleged abduction of five girls in Akoko-Edo Local Government Area of the state.
Nusa, who is the overseer of Divine Grace Church located along Imoga Road, Ibillo, was also accused of allegedly impregnating one of the girls, a 15-year-old.
The police said the teenager, who recently underwent a Caesarean section, is currently receiving medical attention at a hospital and is being cared for by the Brave Heart Organisation.
The suspect was allegedly abducting the girls from Ibillo and Imoga communities and taking them to his residence.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Eno Ikoedem, said the suspect was arrested following information received by the command.
She said preliminary investigation showed that Nusa allegedly abducted the five girls at different times between September 2025 and April 2026.
According to her, the suspect confessed to the alleged offences during police interrogation.
Ikoedem said the command had commenced efforts to reunite the children with their respective families.
She added that investigation was ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the alleged abductions and other offences linked to the suspect.
The police spokesperson said the suspect would be made to face the law upon the conclusion of the investigation.
