The Ondo State Competition and Consumer Protection Agency has commenced moves to strengthen collaboration with the Ondo State Security Network Agency, also known as the Amotekun Corps, to enhance consumer protection and enforcement across the state.
The Chairman of the ODCCPA, Oluyemi Fasipe, led a delegation of the agency on a courtesy and familiarisation visit to the headquarters of the Amotekun Corps in Alagbaka, Akure.
The visit was aimed at formally introducing the agency to the security outfit and establishing a working relationship to support their respective responsibilities towards protecting residents and consumers across the state.
Receiving the delegation, the State Commander of the Amotekun Corps, Akogun Adetunji Adeleye, expressed readiness to support the activities of the ODCCPA and assured the agency of the corps’ cooperation and collaboration.
Fasipe said partnership with security agencies remained essential to effective consumer protection, noting that the responsibility extended beyond routine inspections and enforcement.
According to him, intelligence sharing, coordinated operations and prompt responses were also necessary whenever the rights, safety and welfare of consumers were threatened.
The ODCCPA chairman appreciated Adeleye and the leadership of the Amotekun Corps for the warm reception and commitment to working with the agency.
He said the agency would continue to build strong institutional partnerships across Ondo State, stressing that protecting the people remained a collective responsibility.
