The Ondo State Competition and Consumer Protection Agency has sought the collaboration of security agencies to strengthen consumer protection and enforcement across the state.
The Chairman of the ODCCPA, Oluyemi Fasipe, made the move when he led a delegation of the agency on familiarity and courtesy visits to the Department of State Services and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps in Ondo State.
The visits were aimed at formally introducing the agency to the security commands, strengthening institutional relationships and securing their support as the ODCCPA begins a new phase of consumer protection activities in the state.
During the visits, the leadership of both the DSS and NSCDC reportedly expressed readiness to work with the agency and pledged the support and cooperation of their respective organisations.
The two security commands also indicated their willingness to designate liaison officers who would work directly with the ODCCPA to facilitate communication, intelligence sharing and coordinated responses to consumer protection matters requiring security intervention.
Fasipe stressed that effective consumer protection could not be achieved by a single institution, noting that strong partnerships, timely information sharing and coordinated enforcement were essential to protecting consumers.
He appreciated the leadership of the DSS and NSCDC in the state for the warm reception and assurances of support, describing the engagements as an important step towards building stronger institutional partnerships.
The ODCCPA chairman also disclosed that he received a souvenir from the DSS Director at the end of the visit, describing the gesture as a thoughtful addition to what he termed a productive engagement.
