Three men have been arraigned before an Iyaganku Chief Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan, Oyo State, for allegedly defrauding a spiritual seeker of N6.8m.

The defendants, Waheed Bojesomo, 53; Olajide Olakanmi, 59; and Olayinka Oludayo, 46, were brought before the court on a three-count charge bordering on conspiracy, fraud and stealing.

They all pleaded not guilty to the allegations when the charges were read to them.

The prosecutor, ASP Sikiru Opaleye, told the court that the defendants allegedly acted together to defraud the complainant, identified as Muritala Abiodun.

Opaleye alleged that the incident occurred between 2022 and October 2025 at Apatere village, Ibadan, where the defendants reportedly collected N6.8m from Abiodun on the promise of preparing a spiritual soap for him.

The prosecutor further alleged that the accused knew their claims were false and subsequently converted the money to their personal use.

He said the alleged offences contravened Sections 390(9), 419 and 516 of the Criminal Code Laws of Oyo State, 2000.

Following their pleas, the Chief Magistrate, Mrs Olabisi Ogunkanmi, granted each defendant bail in the sum of N2.5m, with two sureties in the same amount.

The court directed that one of the sureties for each defendant must be a blood relative before granting the bail conditions.

Ogunkanmi adjourned the case until October 22 for hearing.
