NAF intensifies bombardment, cripples terrorists in North-East, North-West

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has sustained a wave of precision airstrikes against terrorist groups in the North-East and North-West, dealing heavy blows to their hideouts, logistics and movement corridors.

The operations, carried out between January 1 and 2, 2026, were executed under the joint task forces of Operation Hadin Kai and Operation Fansan Yamma Sector 2, following actionable intelligence on terrorist activities.

Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, said the air component was deployed decisively after intelligence revealed plans, movements and supply routes of the insurgents.

He explained that in the North-East, NAF aircraft conducted successive precision strikes on well-concealed enclaves at Abirma and Chiralia within the Timbuktu Triangle.

Surveillance, he noted, had confirmed the locations as active centres for improvised explosive device production and attack planning.

According to him, the strikes led to the destruction of targeted structures, with secondary explosions observed, indicating the elimination of explosive stockpiles and key logistics.

Further interdiction missions were also carried out at Guva in the Mandara Mountains, where terrorist storage facilities and coordination hubs were dismantled, significantly weakening their capacity to regroup or launch attacks during and after the festive period.

The offensive was extended to the North-West, where NAF assets struck terrorist elements around Karaduwa Giginya Na in Matazu Local Government Area of Katsina State.

The air force tracked the militants as they moved in large motorcycle convoys before engaging them at a forest convergence point.

Post-strike assessments and feedback from local sources confirmed the neutralisation of several terrorists, destruction of multiple motorcycles and the elimination of assorted weapons.

Ejodame said the sustained, multi-theatre operations underscore the Air Force’s resolve to deny terrorists freedom of movement, operational depth and safe havens across the country.

He assured Nigerians that the air interdiction campaign would continue with precision and professionalism in support of ground forces, stressing that elements threatening innocent lives would be met with decisive force.

The NAF, he added, remains committed to protecting civilians, advancing national security objectives and restoring lasting peace and stability across all theatres of operation.
