The Ondo State Governor, Dr Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has approved the appointment of Engr. (Dr) Lawson Olorunwa Sunday as the Acting Rector of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo.

The appointment, which takes effect from April 25, 2026, follows the retirement of the immediate past Rector, Dr Adegun Simeon Olurunwa, who exited office on April 24, 2026.

Olorunwa, a Chief Lecturer in the Department of Agricultural and Bio-Environmental Engineering Technology, is currently serving as the Deputy Rector of the institution.

According to a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan, the new acting rector holds a PhD in Agricultural and Environmental Engineering Technology and is a registered engineer with over 25 years of experience in the polytechnic system.

The statement noted that Olorunwa has held several key administrative positions within the institution, including Director of Works and Head of Department.

A native of Ajagba in Irele Local Government Area of the state, Olorunwa is expected to steer the affairs of the institution in an acting capacity following the transition in leadership.
