The Ondo State Government has approved cut-off marks for admission into public Junior Secondary Schools across the state for the 2026/2027 academic session.
The decision followed the completion of the admission assessment conducted for prospective pupils seeking places in government-owned secondary schools across the state.
A statement issued on Tuesday by the Press Officer of the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, Bisi Lawani, said the approved scores were determined from candidates’ performance in an examination marked over 300.
The ministry described the assessment as a compulsory part of the admission process, saying it was introduced to ensure that only qualified candidates secured placement in public schools.
Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Igbekele Ajibefun, commended the conduct of the exercise, saying the examination was completed without any significant disruption and the results released promptly.
Ajibefun said the process reflected the ministry’s efforts to strengthen the credibility and efficiency of admission into public schools.
Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Dr Akindele Ige, said the assessment was intended to ensure that admission was based on merit and that deserving pupils were given access to quality secondary education.
He said the exercise would “foster a transparent and merit-based admission process that rewards hard work while ensuring that qualified candidates have access to quality secondary education in the State.”
Following the release of the results, principals of public secondary schools have been directed to begin admitting candidates who meet or surpass the approved cut-off marks.
The ministry also instructed Zonal and Area Education Offices to oversee the admission exercise in their respective areas, while parents and guardians were advised to obtain accurate information from the appropriate education offices or their children’s primary schools and comply with the admission guidelines.
