The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has arraigned two men before the Federal High Court in Lagos for allegedly supplying confidential bank access credentials in a deal said to be worth $15,000.
The suspects, Gideon Bakpa Aghogho and Oscar Ebere Chukwuebuka, were arraigned on Wednesday by the Lagos Zonal Directorate 1 of the EFCC before Justice F.N. Ogazi at the Ikoyi division of the court.
They were charged alongside a man identified as Scott, who is currently at large, on an eight count charge bordering on the unlawful supply and disclosure of access credentials to a bank database.
The alleged offences contravene Sections 27 and 28(1)(b) of the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, Etc.) Act, 2015, as amended in 2024.
The EFCC alleged that between July 24 and 26, 2026, the defendants conspired to provide Aghogho’s access credentials for the FCMB system through a local administrative credential known as ITSD.
According to the commission, the credentials were capable of granting access to the bank’s Virtual Center Platform and were allegedly supplied for the purpose of facilitating an offence.
In another count, Aghogho was accused of knowingly and without lawful authority disclosing sensitive access details, including the bank’s server Internet Protocol address and domain credentials, to enable access to FCMB’s database.
The EFCC alleged that the information was provided between April and May 2025 in exchange for $15,000.
When the charges were read to the defendants, Aghogho pleaded not guilty, while Chukwuebuka entered a guilty plea.
Following Aghogho’s plea, EFCC counsel, Bilkisu Buhari, urged the court to remand him in a correctional facility and requested a date for the commencement of trial.
For Chukwuebuka, the prosecution asked the court to allow it review the facts of the case following his guilty plea.
Justice Ogazi subsequently adjourned the matter until August 27, 2026, for a review of the facts and further proceedings.
The judge also ordered that the defendants be remanded at a correctional centre pending the next hearing.
