Hon. Mathew Oyerinmade, popularly known as MATO, has withdrawn his legal challenge against Hon. Festus Adefinranye over the substitution of his name in the All Progressives Congress primary election for the Ileoluji/Okeigbo/Odigbo Federal Constituency of Ondo State.

The suit, which was filed at the Federal High Court in Abuja, came up for hearing on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, where Oyerinmade’s counsel, Dr Remi Olatubora, SAN, informed the court of his client’s decision to discontinue the case.

According to a statement issued by the MATO Mandate Group and signed by its counsel, Segun Odidi, Oyerinmade decided to withdraw the suit for personal reasons.

The statement said counsel representing the Independent National Electoral Commission and Adefinranye did not oppose the application for withdrawal.

It added that following the submissions by the parties, the presiding judge granted the application and ordered that the suit be dismissed.

The case was subsequently struck out and removed from the court’s cause list, bringing the legal challenge over the APC ticket to an end.

The group said the statement was issued to clarify the development and keep members of the public and other stakeholders informed about the latest position of the case.
