In continuation of his push to strengthen healthcare delivery, the Governor of Ondo State, His Excellency Dr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has employed 30 pharmacists and 50 pharmacy technicians through the Hospital Management Board in the last five months.

According to the records, the recruitment drive began in March/April 2026 with the engagement of 9 pharmacy interns.

In July, 5 additional pharmacist’s interns were employed.

The latest exercise saw the employment of 16 staff pharmacists and 50 pharmacy technicians, bringing the total to 80 new health workers to strengthen the pharmacy of all the general hospitals and state specialist hospitals across Ondo state.

Beyond recruitment, the Governor also demonstrated strong support for the health sector by donating two brand new Hilux vehicles and approving several million naira as seed funding for the Ondo State Drugs Management Agency.

The agency is responsible for the supply of drugs and health-related consumables to government hospitals across the state.

Speaking on the development, the Acting Chairman of the Hospital Management Board, Dr. O.N. Akeredolu, expressed deep appreciation to the Governor for his commitment to revamping the health sector.

He also extended gratitude to the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Taiwo Fasoranti, and Dr. Victor Ategbole, for their dedication and love for the people of the Sunshine State, noting that their actions have further strengthened government efforts in healthcare.

The recent employment and interventions are expected to improve drug availability, pharmaceutical services, and overall service delivery in secondary health facilities across Ondo State.
